There are two aspects to finishing well—finishing well in life and finishing well in your current role/position. In this article I want to discuss finishing your current position well.
A sad fact is that many people do not finish well. Why does this matter? There are two major issues, the first is integrity, the second is that people will generally remember how you left a role more vividly than they remember any contributions you have made along the way.

There are two general patterns of response to conflict—active or passive aggression. It is always best to resolve conflict constructively, rather than destructively. However, we cannot manage ourselves effectively nor understand others well if we do not understand the basics of these two types of aggression.

Some conversations recently have reinforced the need to be wise about which voices we heed. A wise person will learn the skills of hearing feedback. Not all feedback is useful, we need to learn what to take on board and what to reject.

A foundation part of emotional intelligence (EQ) is the ability to know and manage our own emotional states.
Sometimes, however, it seems that we find ourselves reacting without even realising it. We can end up doing things inappropriately or out of proportion to what has just happened—leaving us wondering, “Where did that come from?”
