Ministry Life Skills
Recognising that many people in Christian ministry either struggle or leave within seven years of commencing, Ministry Life Skills equips people to better handle themselves and to have more effective relationships so that the result is more effective and longer-lasting ministry.
So much of preparation for Christian ministry focuses on skills and knowledge, rather than on the individual’s self-knowledge, self-management and the ability to build and maintain good relationships.
The most common reasons for for untimely or poor endings to ministry are not theological differences, or incompetence but due to either character failings or relationship issues (conflict, misunderstandings, inappropriate behaviour).
Building on basic emotional intelligence, Ministry Life Skills adds practical tools to your ministry tool box in areas such as:
- Change management
- Team building
- Interpersonal communication
- Managing self-talk
- Managing emotions
- Understanding motivations
- Personality styles
- Team building
- Wisdom and the seven intelligences
Regardless of your ministry role, the ability to manage yourself, and to build healthy relationships and teams is essential—you need Ministry Life Skills.
Compassion costs. It is easy enough to argue, criticise, and condemn, but redemption is costly, and comfort draws from the deep. Brains can argue, but it takes heart to comfort.
